Book Review: A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle Jensen

Rating: 3 stars of 5

This book is unlike any other story I have read. It’s vikings + mythology + magical fantasy + weird family dynamics + twisty plot lines. I thought the characters had enough depth to make them interesting, the story was well developed, and the writing was engaging. Our female main character’s wit was compelling and added a bit of sparkle to the narrative. The second half of the story was a bit predictable but still enjoyable to read.

It contains more violence, gore, and strong language than suits my preference, thus the 3-star rating. There were some pretty gruesome scenes in here, by my standard, and I found myself skipping over some of those parts to read the parts of the story that were more appealing to me.

Overall, though, it was a decent book and I’ll likely check out another of Danielle’s books in the future. I can see myself continuing on with the series when the next book comes out as well. I have heard that the author has a separate series that is available on Kindle Unlimited, so I might try those books before the next book comes out.

Note: The page edges of my edition are sprayed with a shiny light blue color that is so pretty!
